Our Head of People Talent and Culture, Mark Piper, started out as a Warehouse Operative in Logistics 25 years ago and has spent all of his career in either Logistics or Manufacturing and sometimes both at the same time. Now with 15 years’ worth of training experience behind him he likes to develop people at all levels within the organisation to reach their true potential.
Having a very corporate background it was quite a change when Mark joined a smaller, more family run business in 2018. Instantly Mark felt at home and he says it is the great people that bring him back to work each day and their enthusiasm for learning.
As Head of People Talent and Culture, Mark is responsible for training across 3 sites to ensure we remain compliant for food safety, our staff are protected by Health and Safety and our management team can lead their amazing teams.
“Watching our employees grow and develop is what makes my job amazing. The passion for learning from all levels really shows how engaged the team are to be the best that they can be”
Mark really feels he can bring the experience he has gained over the years of compliance, soft skills and bespoke training to help drive Birtwistles’ forward. Nothing is more satisfying than watching one of the team get promoted to the next level so that we keep and retain our top talent.
Mark has become a valuable member of the team and drives communication and engagement across all the sites. He gets involved in all areas of the business and is always there to help and support our ever expanding organisation.
