The business acknowledges the impact that our operations may have on the environment. Therefore, the establishment of strategic initiatives to ensure continuous improvement has already begun and will continue to be implemented.
Aims & Objectives
The clear objective of MJ Birtwistles & Co Ltd is to mitigate any impact on the environment by:
• Implementing an appropriate environmental management system that ensures the consideration of the environment in all our processes and procedures.
• Implement and maintain a defined methodology in how we monitor, measure, analyse, and review our initiatives and systems.
• Reducing our energy consumption wherever reasonably practicable.
• Optimising our energy efficiency by investing in revolutionary technology.
• Guaranteeing the allocation of sufficient resources for the betterment of our overall sustainability.
• Engage all staff on how their actions impact our energy and waste performance, and overall sustainability to maintain a culture of accountability and responsibility.
• Minimising our waste production and output by implementing a recycling system and investing in carbon neutral waste disposal.
• Deepen relationships, enable data sharing, and enhance collaborative progressive partnerships with our suppliers so that we can begin to monitor and mitigate our scope 3 emissions.
• Considering the effect of our operation on the local community and engage with them to improve the local environment.
• Identifying and complying with all environmental legislation and regulatory obligations that applies; both directly and indirectly, to the business’s activities.
• Reviewing and updating this policy and our management system on an annual basis.
• Distributing responsibility amongst all senior management to safeguard these sustainability aims and actively promote them.
Commitment
We do not have all the answers, but we do understand that to be a successful business, we must be sustainable and strive for better futures. Therefore, all members of staff and subcontractors are expected to co-operate and assist in the implementation of this policy. This includes co-operating with management on any environment-related matter.
